How to play Warmer
Warmer is a free daily country guessing game. The goal is simple: find the one hidden mystery country using as few guesses as you can. Here is everything you need to know — it takes about ten seconds to learn.
The basics
- Make a guess. Type any country name and select it. It appears on the interactive globe.
- Read the heat. The globe colors your guess purely by how far it is from the answer — blue is coldest and furthest, then yellow, orange, and red as you close in, and green means you found it. The color is only ever about distance.
- Use the clues. The colored clue tiles handle everything else: same continent? same hemisphere? bigger or smaller? Narrow it down.
- Keep guessing until the country turns green. There is no guess limit, so take your time.
Reading the globe
The color is your compass, and it means one thing only: distance. A blue country is coldest and furthest from the answer; as your guesses warm through yellow and orange to red you are closing in. A short label above the globe tells you whether your latest guess is warmer or colder than your last one, and says “Bordering” when your guess shares a land border with the mystery country — so you know the answer is right next door.
Understanding the clue tiles
- Continent & subregion — green when they match the hidden country.
- Hemisphere — north or south, matching or not.
- Landlocked — whether the country touches the sea.
- Area — an arrow tells you if the answer is bigger or smaller than your guess.
- Borders answer — a hint when your guess shares a border with the hidden country.
Tips and strategy
- Open with a big, central country to cover ground fast and read the first color.
- Use hemisphere and continent clues to eliminate whole regions before guessing specifics.
- Watch the closer/further label — it confirms whether you are heading the right way.
Game modes
- Daily — one new country every day, the same one for everyone in the world. Solve it to grow your streak and share your result.
- Practice — unlimited rounds whenever you want. Practice rounds never affect your daily streak, so you can experiment freely.
- Multiplayer — race your friends live in a shared room.
Streaks, your passport, and review quizzes
Solving the daily on consecutive days builds a streak. Miss a day and it resets — which is, admittedly, the whole reason people come back.
- Your passport — every country you find in the daily gets stamped. It doubles as a map of your blind spots: the empty regions are the ones you keep guessing around.
- Review quizzes — countries you have already discovered come back for a quick check days or weeks later, spaced so each one returns just as it starts to fade. There is a small daily cap, so reviews stay a two-minute habit rather than a chore.
- Guess stats — see how many guesses you usually need and watch that number fall.
Streaks and practice work without an account. Creating one — a code emailed to you, never a password — unlocks the passport and review quizzes, and keeps everything in sync so you can start a puzzle on your phone and finish it on your laptop.
Which device is best?
Desktop or laptop is the best way to play. The globe is bigger, the clue tiles all fit on screen at once, and typing country names is faster — which matters most in multiplayer races.
Phones are the best way to keep a streak. The daily takes two minutes, and having it on your home screen is the difference between remembering it every day and losing a thirty-day run to a busy Thursday. Plenty of people do both: daily on the phone, multiplayer on the laptop.
Install Warmer on your phone
Warmer installs straight from the browser — there is no app store, no download, and no account needed. It takes two taps and lands on your home screen with its own icon, opening full-screen with no browser bar.
- iPhone or iPad — open warmergames.com in Safari, tap the Share button (the square with the arrow), scroll down, and choose Add to Home Screen.
- Android — open the site in Chrome, tap the ⋮ menu, and choose Add to Home screen (some versions label it Install app).
- Desktop — in Chrome or Edge, click the install icon at the right of the address bar to run Warmer in its own window.
Once installed, Warmer opens in its own window like any other app, and the daily puzzle is one tap from your home screen. Sign in and your streak, passport, and review schedule follow you across every device you install it on.
That is it. Start today’s puzzle and see how few guesses it takes you — or read why the game is built this way.
